INTRO TO SANSKRIT CHANTING

Sanskrit is a language of healing sound vibration. It's roots are ancient, and it is referred to as "Deva Naagari" or "the langu- age of the Gods.
In this workshop we will learn the principles of resonance and vibration unique to this Divine language. We will expand our understanding of why Sanskrit is the original language of mantra and yoga. Through learning various ancient traditional mantras, we will immerse ourselves in these highly energized sounds that connect us with our true nature and bring a sense of peace and harmony to the heart and mind.

Join Meenakshi of SWAHA in the Jivamukti Lounge for a unique six week course in chanting.
This 6 week chanting course explores the ancient devotional practice of the sacred "word", where we will weave together our hearts and voices in celebration and invocation of the Divine. We will drink in the power of the energies embodied by the different Hindu deities, and call forth the mythological, archetypal and spiritual aspects to bring us deeper into the heart of silent contemplation. No previous experience necessary...just an open mind and heart!

KLESHAS: Obstacles along the way to Freedom

In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali describes in the 2nd chapter, specific obstacles that we encounter on the yogic path, both mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and gives techniques to help removes them.

In this workshop we will explore through discussion what these 'kleshas' or obstacles are, and the specific actions or 'kriyas' that Patanjali prescribes to face these challenges head-on through clear perception and meditation.
